World Book Day, also known as World Book and Copyright Day, or International Day of the Book. World Book Day was first celebrated on 23 April 1995, and continues to be recognized on that day. Its purpose is to promote more people to read and write, and hope that everyone can respect and appreciate the literary, cultural, scientific, and ideological masters who have made great contributions to human civilization and protect intellectual property rights. On this day of the year, a variety of celebrations and book promotion events are held in more than 100 countries around the world.
